St. Michael and All Angels
We seek to be a light of Christ in the community, where all are welcome to experience God's love and blessings.

December 25, 2020 - Christmas Day

“Christ is born. He is born to us. And, He is born TODAY. For Christmas is not merely a day like every other day. It is a day made holy and special by a sacred mystery…. For today, God the Father makes all things new, in his divine Son, our redeemer.” Thomas Merton penned these words, but they are as true for us today as the day on which he wrote them.

God so loved the creation that Jesus, God’s only son, was sent to the earth to live among us, and to die for our sins so that we might have eternal love. What love this was on God’s behalf! Jesus is the human incarnation of that love.

I concluded my Christmas Eve sermon with a verse from Christina Rossetti’s poem Love Came Down at Christmas. The poem ends with the following stanza:

Love shall be our token,
Love be yours and love be mine,
Love to God and neighbor,
Love for plea and gift and sign.

Let us manifest that love in our behavior each day and show everyone we meet that we are Christians -- that we believe in the Love that was sent down from heaven -- by our love for others! And I pray that you may all experience the true love in your lives today and always. Amen
