The Fourth Sunday after Pentecost – July 5, 2025

Begin by settling your breath. Let your shoulders drop. Inhale deeply. Exhale slowly. Let the noise of the world fade as you enter this sacred space of reflection.

The Humbling Waters (2 Kings 5:1–14)

Picture Naaman—powerful, respected, armored in reputation—yet beneath it all, afflicted. Leprosy marked his skin, but pride marked his heart. He came seeking healing, expecting grandeur. Instead, he was told to wash in the muddy Jordan. Simple. Humbling. Offensive, even.

But healing didn’t come through spectacle. It came through obedience. Through surrender. Through letting go of what he thought healing should look like.

Where in your life are you resisting the simple path? What healing might be waiting if you let go of pride, of control, of expectations?

Let the image of the Jordan River rise in your mind. See yourself stepping in. One dip. Two. Seven. Let the waters wash over your fears, your doubts, your need to understand. Let them cleanse you.

The Sent Seventy (Luke 10:1–11, 16–20)

Now shift your gaze to the dusty roads of Galilee. Jesus sends out seventy—ordinary people, two by two. No money bags. No sandals. Just peace in their hearts and the message of the Kingdom on their lips.

They are told: “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” They are warned: “I send you out like lambs among wolves.” And yet—they go. They heal. They proclaim. They return rejoicing.

Where is Jesus sending you? Not with perfection, but with peace. Not with certainty, but with trust.

You don’t need to be powerful. You don’t need to be eloquent. You just need to go. To show up. To speak peace. To love boldly.

The Joy of Obedience

Naaman was healed when he obeyed. The seventy rejoiced not because demons submitted to them, but because their names were written in heaven.

True joy isn’t in what we accomplish. It’s in knowing we are known. Loved. Sent. Healed.

Final Reflection

Let these words settle in your spirit: “Go in peace. Wash and be clean. The Kingdom of God has come near.”

Sit in silence for a moment. Let the Spirit speak.

When you’re ready, open your eyes. Carry this peace with you. You are healed. You are sent. You are loved.
